The Knights Templar were the Pope’s private army, guiding pilgrims through the Holy Land and protecting Jerusalem for over 50 years. Their legacy came to a crashing halt at Jacob’s Ford, where the Muslim leader Saladin and his forces were victorious. Now, Dr. Ronnie Ellenblum and a team of archaeologists are uncovering the secrets of this final battle, where as many as 800 Templars and Crusaders were killed.
Templars Last Stand is created from newly released Vatican Documents on the Trials of the Templars and new research of Templar archives and properties. The story follows the trail of the Templars on location from their earliest beginnings through their reign in the Holy Land to their persecution by the church. Along with visiting the places of their greatest triumphs and tragedies, the documentary explores the lives of the most amazing Knights Templar to have ever lived, recounting their personal stories of wealth, power, corruption, greed and persecution as they are changed from chivalrous knights in opulent castles, to God’s Warriors to outlaws on the run and finally – Legends.
